Felix Schoeller implements future strategy with determination

Felix Schoeller strategically realigns its global decor business and optimizes production structures

As part of its Reinvent corporate strategy, Felix Schoeller is reorganizing its global decor business to make it more competitive in the long term. This includes optimizing the production network and expanding the company’s international footprint.

A key step in this realignment is the consolidation of plant structures with the aim of creating a more efficient and competitive production network in Germany. As part of this, the plant in Penig will be closed in the course of 2025 and the product portfolio will be transferred to other production sites of the company. This will include the Osnabrück site that will supply black decor papers and backer papers in future. “This was not an easy decision for us. We have examined all options in order to keep the Penig site economically viable. However, due to high costs and ongoing market volatility, it was not possible to continue in the long term,” explains CEO Hans-Christoph Gallenkamp. Felix Schoeller is working closely with employees and the works council to develop socially acceptable and fair solutions.

At the same time, the company is investing in the further development of its global production and sales network. Capacity at the Osnabrück site is being expanded with targeted investments. In China, Felix Schoeller is focusing on the production of decor paper with the imminent completion of the complete takeover of the Chinese joint venture Winbon Technocell. The activities in China will thus become part of Felix Schoeller’s global production network. At the turn of the year the company also strengthened its position in the growth market of Turkey with its own team in Istanbul.

“These measures not only ensure competitiveness, but also a sustainable, future-oriented customer supply. With our clear strategy for the future, we have developed the answer to changing market conditions and are now implementing it with determination,” says Gallenkamp.
